LILLE DESIGN FOR CHANGE (OUI-LIEUX)
February 2014
A series of project proposals for urban renovation in Tourcoing and Lille, France.
OUI-LIEUX is a socio-architectural infrastructure enabling emerging businesses and entrepreneurs to join together and make use of unoccupied building space in central Tourcoing. In this system, young enterprises apply for space and are curated into a mixed-use building share system, creating a balanced mix of business use, social use, and publicly accessible space in buildings that would otherwise be difficult for landowners to lease in full.
Buildings in the OUI-LIEUX space share network can be identified by a constructed facade overlay, containing reconfigurable elements that can be implemented as signage, seating, table surface, bicycle parking, and other uses. These provide space and motivation for a network of activity outside in the street as well as in the shops themselves.
A collaboration with Matthew Rosier, Fiona O'Leary, and Alejandro Sajgalik.
